Minister of European Affairs, Orhan Murtezani, had a productive meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, within the framework of his working visit to Ankara. The meeting focused on important issues of a political, economic and social nature, with an emphasis on strengthening bilateral relations and regional stability.
Minister Murtezani emphasized the importance of Turkey as a significant political and economic actor in the Balkans. Turkey plays a central role in stabilizing the region and addressing global and regional challenges, including supporting economic growth and stability in the Western Balkan countries. The Minister underlined that this cooperation has strategic importance for advancing economic and political ties.
It was agreed at the meeting that the promotion of the high-level political dialogue between North Macedonia and Turkey is of essential importance. The two ministers agreed on the need to identify points of mutual interest that will enable even greater cooperation, especially in the areas of economy, trade and cultural exchange.
North Macedonia, as a multicultural and multiethnic society, particularly appreciates Turkey’s support in improving social structures and inclusiveness. It was emphasized that joint initiatives to strengthen social ties represent a model of positive cooperation that contributes to the stability and development of the region.
Minister Murtezani emphasized that the accelerated integration of the region into European structures represents an opportunity for increased growth and development. He emphasized that cooperation with Turkey, as an important ally in this process, is crucial for ensuring economic and political stability, as well as for advancing North Macedonia’s European integration efforts.
The two ministers also discussed the importance of the stability of the energy sector, as well as the opportunities for joint energy projects. It was emphasized that energy cooperation is an important part of bilateral relations and a strategic priority for ensuring sustainable development.
Minister Murtezani expressed gratitude for Turkey’s continued support in the process of North Macedonia’s integration into European structures. He emphasized the two countries' shared vision for a stable, peaceful and prosperous Balkans, which is integrated into the European Union and ready to deal with contemporary challenges.
