Biography:
Bekim Sali was born on 4 July 1978 in Skopje, where he continues to live and work. He is a senior public official, policymaker, and healthcare professional with extensive experience in government, European integration, public administration, and health sector governance. Throughout his career, he has combined executive leadership in state institutions with a strong professional background in healthcare management and organizational development.
He currently serves as Minister for European Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia, while also holding the position of Member of Parliament in the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia for the 2024–2028 mandate, a role he assumed in May 2024. In Parliament, he is actively engaged in commission work, policy oversight, EU-related legislation, and cooperation with international partners.
Between January 2022 and February 2023, Bekim Sali served as Minister of Health, where he was responsible for national health policy, strategic reforms, crisis response coordination, international cooperation, and the modernization of healthcare institutions. Earlier in his career, from 2009 to 2010, he held the position of Chief of Cabinet to the Minister of Health, overseeing strategic coordination, stakeholder communication, and executive support. During the same period, he also served as Chairman of the Management Board of the Health Insurance Fund, with responsibilities related to governance, financing oversight, and supervision of national health insurance policies.
Alongside his public service career, Bekim Sali has maintained an active professional presence in the healthcare sector. Since 2008, he has been the Founder and Director of the “Molar” Dental Clinic in Skopje, which he established with a strong focus on quality standards and patient-centered care.
He holds a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Faculty of Dentistry at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. His professional development is complemented by continuous participation in scientific and medical events, attending at least three dentistry-related conferences annually, and actively organizing and contributing to international medical and scientific conferences.
Bekim Sali has also been deeply involved in political and civic engagement. He served as Chair of the Čair branch of the BESA Movement from 2014 to 2018. Within the political movement AlternAtivA, he held the roles of Organizational Secretary (2019–2020) and later Secretary General (2020–2022). In 2021, he was a candidate in the local elections for the Municipality of Čair.
He is a long-standing member of several professional organizations, including the Dental Chamber of North Macedonia and the Association of Albanian Dentists in North Macedonia since 2008, as well as the Association of Albanian Implantologists since 2019.
In addition to his professional and political work, he possesses strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, SPSS, and Adobe Photoshop. He is fluent in Albanian as his mother tongue and speaks Macedonian, English, and Turkish fluently.
