Biography:
Bekim Sali was born on 4 July 1978 in Skopje, where he continues to live and work today. He is a senior public official, policy-maker and healthcare professional with extensive experience in public administration, European integration processes, public sector governance, and healthcare management. Throughout his career, he has successfully combined executive leadership in state institutions with a strong professional background in healthcare management and organizational development.
He currently serves as the Minister for European Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia and simultaneously holds the position of First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia. In this capacity, he coordinates the country's European integration process, the implementation of the Reform Agenda, alignment with European Union legislation, and cooperation with European institutions and international partners. As a holder of a high executive office, he actively contributes to the formulation and implementation of strategic policies related to the country's European future.
From January 2022 to February 2023, Bekim Sali served as Minister of Health, where he was responsible for developing and implementing national healthcare policies, strategic reforms, coordinating responses to crisis situations, fostering international cooperation in the health sector, and modernizing healthcare institutions. Previously, from 2009 to 2010, he served as Chief of Staff to the Minister of Health, overseeing strategic coordination, stakeholder communication, and executive support to the ministry's leadership. During the same period, he also served as Chairman of the Board of the Health Insurance Fund, with responsibilities related to governance, financial oversight, and supervision of national health insurance mechanisms.
Alongside his public service career, Bekim Sali has maintained an active professional career in the private healthcare sector. Since 2008, he has been the founder and director of the dental clinic “Molar” in Skopje, which he established with a strong focus on high-quality standards and patient-centered care.
He holds a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Faculty of Dentistry at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. He regularly participates in scientific and professional events in the field of dentistry, attending at least three conferences annually, and has also been involved as both an organizer and participant in international medical and scientific conferences.
He is an active member of several professional associations, including the Dental Chamber of North Macedonia and the Association of Albanian Dentists in North Macedonia since 2008, as well as the Association of Albanian Implantologists since 2019.
In addition, he possesses advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, SPSS, and Adobe Photoshop. His native language is Albanian, and he is fluent in Macedonian, English, and Turkish.
Bekim Sali’s professional career is characterized by a continuous commitment to public service, the advancement of the healthcare system, and the European integration process, marked by leadership roles at both national and institutional levels.
