Sali: EU integration must translate into concrete digital services for citizens

The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for European Affairs, Bekim Sali, participated in a discussion focused on digital transformation and support to municipalities in the EU integration process.

In his remarks, Minister Sali emphasized that European integration must become visible to citizens through concrete, functional, and accessible services at the local level.

“Our priority is to translate EU policies—from the acquis, the Reform Agenda, and IPA programmes—into practical digital solutions for municipalities, such as e-permitting, digital urban planning, local tax systems, and environmental services,” Sali stated.

He added that the Ministry is working toward establishing a standardised digital architecture that ensures interoperability, shared platforms, and alignment with EU standards, reducing fragmentation and costs.

Regarding support to municipalities, the Minister highlighted concrete mechanisms, including technical assistance through IPA, simplification of procedures, and the development of advisory and coordination platforms.

“The objective is clear: to close the gap between ideas and implementation and ensure that projects are translated into real services for citizens and businesses,” Sali underlined.
