Minister Sali participated in the Informal Meeting of Ministers for European Affairs in Nicosia

The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for European Affairs, Bekim Sali, participated in the Informal Meeting of Ministers for European Affairs held in Lefkosia under the Presidency of Cyprus of the Council of the European Union.

During the session dedicated to enlargement, Minister Sali underlined the importance of a credible and predictable enlargement process based on merit and the fundamental values of the European Union.

He stressed that enlargement today represents a strategic investment in Europe’s security, stability and resilience, while reforms in the rule of law, democratic institutions and public administration remain essential pillars of the accession process.

Minister Sali reaffirmed that North Macedonia remains fully committed to its European perspective, the implementation of reforms and alignment with European values and policies.

In his intervention, he emphasized that gradual integration should serve as a mechanism to accelerate convergence towards full EU membership, and not as its substitute, highlighting the benefits of deeper integration into the Single Market, EU programmes and reform-linked financial instruments.
