Bekim Sali: North Macedonia remains a steadfast supporter of Ukraine and its European future

The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for European Affairs, Bekim Sali, addressed the plenary session of the Ukraine – South-East Europe Summit, held on the occasion of Ukraine's Statehood Day.

In his remarks, Minister Sali reaffirmed North Macedonia's unwavering support for Ukraine, stressing the country's continued commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity in accordance with international law.

He underlined that since the beginning of Russia's aggression, North Macedonia has provided political, humanitarian, military and technical assistance to Ukraine and will continue to do so in close coordination with the European Union and its Euro-Atlantic partners.

Highlighting the importance of the Summit, Minister Sali noted that cooperation between Ukraine and the countries of South-East Europe is essential for strengthening regional stability, supporting Ukraine's recovery and reconstruction, and contributing to a stronger and more secure Europe.

Speaking about Ukraine's European integration, Minister Sali emphasised that North Macedonia, as a long-standing EU candidate country, stands ready to share its experience, expertise and institutional knowledge to support Ukraine throughout its accession process.

He also welcomed the Memorandum of Cooperation between the institutions of the two countries, describing it as an important framework for enhancing practical cooperation and supporting Ukraine's European integration efforts.

Minister Sali concluded by reaffirming that North Macedonia will remain a reliable partner and a strong advocate of Ukraine in its pursuit of peace, security and membership in the European Union.
