Minister for European Affairs Orhan Murtezani also met today with the Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), Amer Kapetanović. At the meeting, views were exchanged on the ongoing initiatives for regional integration and the role of the Council in supporting the continued progress of the Western Balkan countries towards their European ambitions.
Special emphasis in the talks was placed on the Regional Single Market Action Plan, which is part of the second pillar of the European Commission's Growth Plan for the Western Balkans. Murtezani and Kapetanović emphasized the importance of deepening economic cooperation and competitiveness between the Western Balkan countries with the aim of integration into the single European market, which is also one of the main objectives of the Growth Plan.
The Minister and the Secretary General concluded that the implementation of the Action Plan is crucial for advancing economic integration, as well as for creating favorable conditions for the free movement of goods, services and workers. Emphasis was also placed on the importance of cooperation in the energy, transport and digitalization sectors, which will improve the competitiveness of the region and contribute to its economic stability.
MEP Murtezani expressed gratitude for the support of the Council for all initiatives that advance regional dialogue and integration and reaffirmed the commitment of the Republic of North Macedonia to continue reform efforts and invest in economic integration and alignment with European standards.
