Minister for European Affairs, Orhan Murtezani, concluded his two-day working visit to Brussels with a meeting with the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos. The focus of the discussion was the country's reform efforts in the context of the European dossier and the Western Balkans Growth Plan.
Minister Murtezani presented the progress in implementing the Reform Agenda of North Macedonia, emphasizing that the Government is actively working to meet the reform goals and that the successful implementation of the Reform Agenda will be a significant factor in North Macedonia's progress on the path to the EU, as part of the accession process. He also emphasized the country's commitment to the full implementation of the Growth Plan, which will be the main topic of the upcoming meeting of Western Balkan leaders in Skopje, in March this year. Murtezani expressed confidence that North Macedonia is ready to continue with concrete steps that will bring the country closer to the Union.
"North Macedonia remains firmly committed to its strategic interests for the successful implementation of our European dossier. We are ready to undertake necessary reforms and focus on principled solutions that will be in the interest of the country and all its citizens. With stability, progress and constructive dialogue, we will achieve our goal – full membership in the Union." - emphasized MEP Murtezani.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on the constitutional amendments in the context of the challenges on the European path. They concluded that good neighborly relations are of crucial importance for the progress of North Macedonia's integration into the European Union and that all solutions should be in accordance with the will of the citizens. The readiness to continue the constructive dialogue and engagement with all partners to ensure a successful path towards EU membership, based on the principles of stability, reconciliation and shared responsibility, was expressed.
