The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for European Affairs, Mr. Bekim Sali, held a meeting with Member of the European Parliament Thomas Waitz, who is also the chief rapporteur for the European Parliament’s reports on the progress of the Republic of North Macedonia toward membership in the European Union.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the European integration process and the latest European Parliament report on the Republic of North Macedonia, adopted by a majority vote in July 2025, which notes the achieved progress and emphasizes the need to remove political blockages in the accession process.
Deputy Prime Minister Sali expressed gratitude for the continuous support provided by MEP Waitz, reaffirming the position that bilateral issues should not constitute an obstacle to the advancement of European integration. MEP Waitz emphasized that the enlargement process should be based on objective criteria and European values.
Both interlocutors agreed to continue close cooperation and maintain an open dialogue with the institutions of the European Union, with the aim of accelerating the European path of the Republic of North Macedonia.
