The Minister of European Affairs, Orhan Murtezani, addressed a press conference today on the arrival of pre-financing funds under the Reform and Growth Instrument by the European Commission.
"The tranche amounts to 52.4 million euros, or 7% of the total amount of financial assistance for the country, which, as you know, amounts to around 750 million euros. This payment is based on the pre-financing request, which we reported in November last year that, as the National Coordinator for the Reform Agenda, I signed and submitted to the EC. With this, North Macedonia became the first country in the region to receive these funds after previously taking all the necessary steps, i.e. completing the legal procedures; i.e. the Loan Agreement and the Grant Agreement entered into force.
The second important news related to the Reform Agenda is that on March 14, 2025, we submitted to the European Commission, within the stipulated deadline, the first Request for the release of funds in the amount of 17.1 million euros for the implementation of specific reform steps. In the request, we outlined the activities implemented by December 2024 (a deadline that was extended by the Commission to February 2025)." – emphasized Murtezani.
