Sali welcomes College of Europe students for a discussion on European integration

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for European Affairs Bekim Sali welcomed students and the academic team of the College of Europe’s Tirana Campus as part of their study visit to North Macedonia.

The meeting focused on the country’s path towards the European Union, the importance of reforms, and the opportunities European integration creates for citizens, businesses, and young people.

Sali emphasised that EU membership remains a clear strategic objective and that the commitment to reforms continues despite political challenges affecting the pace of accession. He underlined that reforms must deliver concrete results for citizens through stronger institutions, the rule of law, and better public services.

The discussion highlighted the importance of the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans and North Macedonia’s Reform Agenda as instruments linking reforms with measurable results, financial support, and opportunities for gradual integration into the EU Single Market.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on regional cooperation and the role of young people in shaping the European future of the Western Balkans. Students raised questions and shared their perspectives, while Ministry representatives contributed their institutional experience of the European integration process.
