First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for European Affairs Bekim Sali: Strategic Partnership with the United Kingdom remains important for reforms, development and democratic resilience
The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for European Affairs, Bekim Sali, held a working meeting and discussion with Ambassador of the United Kingdom, Matthew Lawson, reaffirming the strong partnership and continued cooperation between the two countries.
 
During the meeting, it was highlighted that the United Kingdom remains an important strategic partner and supporter of North Macedonia, particularly in the areas of reforms, democratic governance, economic development, security, and institutional transformation.
 
Minister Sali underlined that the Government remains strongly committed to implementing the Reform Agenda 2024–2027 and the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, as key mechanisms for modernising the country, improving public services, and accelerating convergence with the European Union.
 
The discussion also focused on strengthening good governance, institutional coordination, digitalisation, cybersecurity, countering disinformation, and developing result-oriented and accountable public institutions.
 
The interlocutors exchanged views on opportunities for enhanced economic cooperation, investments, infrastructure projects, innovation, and green and digital transformation.
 
Minister Sali highly appreciated the continued support of the United Kingdom for democratic processes, institutional strengthening, and the country’s long-term development, stressing that the partnership between the two countries remains grounded in shared democratic values, rule of law, and regional stability.
