The 116th anniversary of the birth of Mother Teresa – Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, one of the world’s most renowned and respected humanitarian figures, was marked with a central commemorative event at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje.
The event was attended by senior state officials, including the President of the Assembly, Afrim Gashi, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, as well as Izet Mexhiti and Bilall Kasami.
In his address, the First Deputy Prime Minister, Bekim Sali, highlighted the importance of Mother Teresa’s legacy and her universal message of humanity, love and solidarity.
“Mother Teresa did not build her legacy with grand words, but through concrete actions: by extending a helping hand to those in need, caring for the sick, providing food for the hungry, and shelter for the homeless.”
Sali emphasized that Mother Teresa’s message remains relevant today, reminding us that humanity is a language we can all understand, while ethnic, religious and cultural differences should be a source of understanding and mutual respect.
As part of the event, the book “The Missionary Journey of Gonxhe Bojaxhiu toward the Universal Mother Teresa”, authored by Albert Ramaj and Skender Asani, was promoted, and a documentary exhibition dedicated to the life and work of Mother Teresa was opened.
Mother Teresa’s mission – love, service and care for others – remains a universal value and an inspiration for our collective action.
