SCHOLARSHIPS FOR POSTGRADUATE STUDIES
“GABRIELA KONEVSKA TRAJKOVSKA”
IN THE FIELD OF LAW, ECONOMY AND EU POLICIES ABROAD
FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2014/2015

For the twelfth year in a row, the Secretariat for European Affairs and the Government of the Republic of Macedonia are implementing the activity: awarding scholarships for postgraduate studies abroad in the field of law, economics and EU policies. The purpose of providing financial resources for sending staff for further specialization in the field of the EU is to build and strengthen the professional skills of civil servants engaged in the process of approximation and future accession to the EU, but also to recruit new staff who will be able to actively engage in that process.

Who can apply?

The competition is open to citizens of the Republic of Macedonia. The "Gabriela Konevska Trajkovska" scholarships are intended for future students/candidates for scholarships who are already enrolled in higher education institutions abroad with an appropriate postgraduate study program in the EU area. Postgraduate studies in the EU area are considered to be postgraduate studies in the fields of law, economics and EU policies, with preference given to candidates who do not have financial means to cover the studies in the listed fields on another basis.

Conditions

Submitting a scholarship application

The competition for awarding "Gabriela Konevska Trajkovska" scholarships was announced on 26.04.2014 in the two most widely circulated public publications, the newspaper "Vest" and the newspaper "Koha", and on the website of the Secretariat for European Affairs https://mep.gov.mk/en-GB/obuki/stipendii  as well as on the website of the SEP Training Center tc.sep.gov.mk. The competition lasts until 25.05.2014.

On 15.05.2014 (Thursday), at 10.00, in the premises of the Secretariat for European Affairs at Kej "Dimitar Vlahov" no. 4, Skopje (former building of Komercijalna Banka), an information day will be held, when more detailed information about the scholarships will be available. In the period 26.04-25.05.2014, interested candidates can apply for this scholarship by submitting the required documentation electronically to the following e-mail address stipendii@sep.gov.mk  or by mail to the following address and note:

or hand them in person in a sealed envelope to the Archives of the Secretariat for European Affairs of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia.

What next?

The selection of candidates is carried out by a Commission composed of representatives of several government institutions. After the selection of the received applications/requests for a scholarship to support postgraduate studies for the EU, the proposed list of candidates is submitted to the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, which makes the final selection.

The scholarship provider undertakes to cover the costs up to a maximum of 20,000.00 euros. Costs exceeding the stated amount will be borne by the scholarship beneficiary. The funds are allocated to cover the costs of tuition, accommodation, food and travel expenses to the study destination and back.

Future scholarship holders

The selected candidates/scholarships sign an agreement with the Secretariat for European Affairs of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, whereby they commit to obtaining a master's degree within the specified period and to working in the state administration for a period of three years after completing their postgraduate studies.
