The Secretariat for European Affairs announces the opening of the 5th thematic call for funding projects under the Interreg Euro-MED Programme.
The 5th thematic call will be open from 18 June to 26 September this year. It is intended to support projects in all operational missions of the Programme and should contribute to the achievement of the following priorities and specific objectives:
Mission 1: Strengthening an innovative sustainable economy
Priority axis 1: Supporting a smart Mediterranean region
Specific objective 1.1: Consolidating/strengthening a competitive and innovative environment
Priority axis 2: Supporting a greener and climate-resilient Mediterranean region
Specific objective 2.6: Supporting the development of a circular economy
Mission 2: Protecting, restoring and enhancing the environment and natural heritage
Priority axis 2: Supporting a greener and climate-resilient Mediterranean region
Specific objective 2.4: Promoting climate change adaptation and risk prevention activities
Specific objective 2.7: Improving nature and biodiversity
Mission 3: Promoting a green environment
Priority axis 2: Supporting a greener, climate-resilient Mediterranean region
Specific objective 2.4: Promoting climate change adaptation and risk prevention activities
Mission 4: Strengthening sustainable tourism
Priority axis 1: Supporting a smart Mediterranean region
Specific objective 1.1: Consolidating/strengthening a competitive and innovative environment
Priority axis 2: Supporting a greener, climate-resilient Mediterranean region
Specific objective 2.4: Promoting climate change adaptation and risk prevention activities

The call is intended for for the following type of thematic projects:
Strategic territorial projects – which aim to respond to the needs and common challenges of a specific, identified typology of territory, within a strategic theme for this territory.
The EU budget for this call is around 35 million euros, which will finance 80% of the eligible costs of the approved projects. The remaining costs (20%), which are not covered by EU funds, should be provided by national sources of co-financing (public or private).
Potential beneficiaries of funds from the call, depending on which mission of the Programme the project is focused on, are:
Public institutions at local, regional and central level,
Higher education institutions and education and research centres,
International organisations regulated by national legislation,
Non-governmental organisations and associations,
Chambers of Commerce,
Small and medium-sized enterprises, etc.
