Fishing

Chapter 3.13 Fisheries regulates the area of fisheries, but due to the fact that the Republic of North Macedonia does not reach the sea, a large part of the European legislation is not applicable. The fisheries legislation consists of regulations whose implementation will prepare the administration and operators for participation in the common fishing policy, which includes market policy, resource and fleet management, inspection and control, structural activities and control of state aid. Adaptation to the Common Fisheries Policy of the European Union includes the application of various technical measures and the establishment of an appropriate system for inspection, supervision and control, a system for managing illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing, as well as mechanisms for co-financing.

The aim is to ensure greater control and sustainability of fish and water resources, easier placement on the European market, use of funds from the European Maritime Fund and the Fisheries Fund by fishermen and fish processors, as well as protection of endangered fish species.
