Chapter 3.19 Social policy and employment covers the following areas: labor law, occupational safety and health, social dialogue, employment policy and the European Social Fund, social protection and social inclusion, anti-discrimination and equal opportunities. The employment policy includes the strategic objectives of the EU aimed at ensuring full employment, good working conditions, high productivity and social cohesion in accordance with the "flexible security" policy, which combines flexibility and security on the labor market. EU legislation in this chapter includes minimum standards in the field of labor law, equal treatment of men and women in relation to employment and social insurance, and health and safety at work.
In addition, special binding rules have been established to ensure protection against discrimination based on gender, race, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, age, religion or belief.
