Economic and monetary union

The discussion of EU politicians in Chapter 3.17 Economic and monetary union is from the aspect of the legislation related to the economic and monetary policy of the EU and represents a set of rules: independence of central banks in member countries, ban on direct financing of the public sector by central banks and ban on privileged access of public bodies to financial institutions. Member countries are expected to coordinate their economic policies, regulated by the Stability and Growth Pact. The new member countries are expected to comply with the criteria established by the Agreement on the Functioning of the European Union, in order to have the opportunity to introduce the euro upon accession.
