Chapter 3.18 Statistics covers the following sectors: statistical infrastructure, classifications and registers, and statistics by sectors. The actions included in this chapter enable the National Statistical System to adequately meet the requirements of the EU acquis on statistics. EU rules and policies in this field aim to provide high quality statistics in line with EU regulations and international recommendations. The European Statistical System is a partnership between the statistical systems of EU Member States, the Statistical Office of the European Union (EUROSTAT), the Statistical Systems of the European Economic Area (EEA) and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). The European Statistical System also coordinates its work with candidate countries and, at European level, with other service activities, Commission agencies, the European Bank and international organisations such as the OECD, the UN, the IMF and the World Bank.
