Chapter 3.28 Consumer and health protection regulates two areas, consumer protection and public health protection, which are part of the EU's core policies. These include the safety of consumer goods, the protection of the economic interests of consumers, as well as specific binding rules in the field of public health. The purpose of implementing these policies is to provide greater protection of the health and safety of the consumer, protection of the economic interest of the consumer, the right of the consumer to be informed and educated, the right to compensation and the right of association, as well as advocacy and participation of consumers so they can exercise their rights.
As regards public health, the policies refer to the protection and improvement of the health of citizens, the modernisation of the healthcare infrastructure, as well as the improvement of the efficiency of the healthcare systems. The implementation of EU regulations in these areas will provide better consumer protection and a better health care system that is directly related to the quality of life of citizens.
