Financial services should ensure a stable, secure, and efficient financial market, safeguard coherence and consistency between different policy areas such as banking, insurance, securities, mutual funds, financial markets, payment systems. The European Union is striving to improve Europe's financial sector and to create a banking union to strengthen the euro area.
