Chapter 3.10 Information society and media covers the following areas: electronic communications, information society services, and audio-visual policy. In terms of information society and media, the aim is to ensure proper implementation of the newly adopted legislation on electronic communications and audio-visual media policies. In the field of electronic communications, the acquis aims to eliminate obstacles to the effective operation of the internal market in telecommunications services and networks, safeguard consumer interests and ensure the availability of modern services. E-commerce and audio-visual services are particularly covered within the rules regarding information society services. EU policies in terms of audio-visual issues are to provide European cultural and media diversity, as well as to boost European film production.
