Today, 31.03.2016 The Secretariat for European Affairs with support from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) organised a workshop to establish the terminology for chapters 23 (Judiciary and Fundamental Rights) and 24 (justice, freedom and security) of the European Union law.
The workshop was attended by representatives of the NPAA working groups for chapters 23 and 24, coordinators of Chapters 23 and 24 of the Secretariat for European Affairs as well as translators, language revisers and coordinators of the process of developing the national version of the European Union law from the Department for the preparation of national version of the European Union at the Secretariat for European Affairs.
Opening remarks had the state counsellor of SEA, Ms Ljilja Trpkovska, representative from GIZ, Mr Michael Samec and Professir Simon Sazdov PhD as an aexpert in Macedonian language.
Terms that are frequently used and are defined in European legal acts in chapters 23 and 24 were considered at the workshop, which have specific meaning in these documents and for which a translation in Macedonian is needed assistance from the experts in the respective fields and experts in Macedonian language. The discussion that was developed and comments received from participants confirmed the importance of cooperation between the Department for preparation of the national version of the European Union acquis in SEA with the NPAA working groups from relevant areas and showed that enhanced cooperation can contribute to the significantly raising quality as the translation of EU legal acts and the very national legislation of the Republic of Macedonia, especially in the part where the national legislation implementing the provisions of European Union law.
