Today was signed a cooperation agreement in the field of European integration in Kosovo by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia in charge of European Affairs, Fatmir Besimi PhD and the Minister for European Integration of Kosovo, Mr. Bekim Çollaku.
The Memorandum confirms the European perspective of both countries and strengthen bilateral relations and promote continuous cooperation of mutual interest. During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Besimi stressed the importance of regional cooperation for the exchange of experiences in the field of European integration, exchange of information and know-how for the adoption of European legislation and its implementation in the chapters.
Macedonia and Kosovo have signed over 30 cooperation agreements so far. The last agreement that was signed between the two countries simplified the border procedures for crossing the border with biometric ID card that confirms the mutual cooperation and convergence of citizens.
Among other things, the importance of the use of EU funds by the CBC program where CBC Programme 2007 - 2013 was highlighted, 1,290,910 have been utilised so far for projects that are already in implementation phase while CBC Programme 2014-2020 has 8,400,000 Euro on disposal .
Both sides welcomed this initiative, confirming once again the good cooperation between the countries. Deputy Prime Minister Besimi wished Minister Çollaku, at the end of the meeting, sooner realisation of the visa liberalisation with the European countries which is of particular importance for the country on its way to getting closer to the European family
