Deputy President of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia for European Affairs, Fatmir Besimi PhD, today had a meeting with the newly appointed ambassador of theRepublic of Estonia in our country, Mr. Daniel Erik Schaer.
Deputy Prime Minister Besimi congratulated the Ambassador on the occasion of his appointment and wished successful work and extending the friendly cooperation between both countries. He also expressed satisfaction from the support of Estonia in the country's Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
Besimi welcomed the forthcoming meeting of the Talin Group in close cooperation with the Friends of Macedonia Group in the EU Council, as well ad the principal support of Estonia for parallel process of pre accession negotiations, simultaneously with the bilateral negotiations. He also expressed his interest for cooperation with Estonia in the area of apsorption of EU funds.
The urgent priorities in the European Union accession process, established with the EU Council conclusions were highlighted during the talks, as well as a brief overview of the development of the political situation in the country.
At the end of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Besimi and the Ambassador Daniel Erik Schaer stressed that the cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Estonia shall continue in the forthcoming period, with strengthened cooperation.
