Within the initiative of the Secretariat for European Affairs "Institutional visits concerning the implementation of urgent reform priorities," the Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs, Fatmir Besimi, PhD, today had a working meeting with the president of the State Election Commission Mr. Aleksandar Chichakovski and the deputy president Mr. Redzep Prekopuca. At the begining of the meeting, Besimi congratulated the appointment and the election of the new composition of the State Election Commission, emphasising the important role that this institution will have in the forthcoming period, especially for the next parliamentary elections.
The president of the State Election Commission Chichakovski expressed gratitude for the visit underlining that good inter-institutional cooperation will be crucial for the successful organisation and conduct of the election process.
The recommendations of the Urgent reform priorities under the competence of or related to the State Election Commission were discussed at the meeting with a focus on the planned specific activities to be undertaken in the period until the announcement of the early parliamentary elections, as defined by the latest amendments to the Electoral Code.
