The Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia for European affairs, Fatmir Besimi PhD had a working meeting with the reporter for the Republic of Macedonia at the European Parliament, Mr. Ivo Vajgl, at the Secretariat for European Affairs.
Deputy Prime Minister Besimi stressed that the Euro - Atlantic integration remains one of the key strategic priorities of our country and that the Government continues the implementation of the required reforms and measures for further legal and institutional approximation to the European Union. The discussion was focused on the undertaken activities for implementation of the key reforms of the country's European agenda.
MEP Vajgl underlined his willingness to provide further support of the cooperation and the reform processes in our country, regarding his personal engagement in terms of the role the European Parliament. He also highlighted the need of complete implementation of the achieved political dialogue.
In view of the migrant crisis, it was stressed that the
Government undertakes active measures to solve the issue of increased number of migrants coming mostly from Greece, including border control, health protection, improved conditions in the accommodation areas. Still, the Republic of Macedonia itself has no capacity to deal with this global process and therefore a continuous support and direct aid from the EU are necessary, - stated Besimi.
In the end, the , the interlocutors stressed that the cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and the European Parliament shall continue with strong pace and dynamics, as well as with common approach and support in further improvement of the situation and implementation of reforms in every social sphere
