The Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia in charge of European affairs, Fatmir Besimi, PhD met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Mr. Peter Szijjarto, accompanied by the Deputy Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr. Zsolt Csutora and the Ambassador of Hungary in the Republic of Macedonia HE Mr. Joseph Bence.
During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister Besimi expressed his gratitude for the continued and unconditional support from Hungary for the integration of the Republic of Macedonia in the European Union and the strong commitment for accelerating the process of EU enlargement of the Western Balkans countries.
Marking the importance of the European integration process for the Republic of Macedonia, the Deputy Prime Minister Besimi pointed out the need of taking solid actions by all sides in order to overcome the challenges our country is facing with on an internal or external plan towards the Euro-Atlantic integrations. He, also, pointed out that the European integration remains the highest priority.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Peter Szijjarto emphasised that Hungary is one of the most active EU members that supports Macedonia in the initiation of the accession negotiations in the EU. Relating to the current political events he marked that it is of utmost importance that the country starts a sustainable political dialogue, as soon as possible.
At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors stated that the good bilateral relations between the Republic of Macedonia and Hungary will continue to develop, especially in the area of sharing the Hungarian experience and expertise in the field of European integrations.
