Today the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs, Dr. Fatmir Besimi, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania in Skopje, H.E. Mr. Arben Cejku.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Albania congratulated the Deputy Prime Minister Besimi for his new position and expressed his gratitude for the excellent cooperation that both countries had in the area of defence and NATO integration in the period when Mr. Besimi led the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Macedonia.
Within the framework of institutional cooperation, Mr. Cejku emphasised the importance of this cooperation, aimed at the implementation of the Mutual agreement of both countries in relation to the European integration.
They also discussed the current situation, whereby the Deputy Prime Minister Besimi and the Ambassador Cejku agreed that these local elections, directed towards the citizens and towards development of municipalities, should also be considered as a contribution to the democratic profile of the country. They can contribute towards internal integration and strengthening of inter-ethnic relations, as a prerequisite for integration and Euro-Atlantic vision of the Republic of Macedonia.
In that regard, they also discussed the visit and future meetings of the Deputy Prime Minister Besimi in Tirana, related to the integration agenda of both countries and in view of good neighbourly and regional cooperation.
