The Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia in charge of European Affairs Fatmir Besimi, PhD. today, has participated and has given a speech on the project "Capacity building for food safety, veterinary and phytosanitary policy" which is funded by the European Union through the pre-accession assistance funds - IPA (TAIB).
The main objective of the project is to improve the protection of human, animal and plant health by strengthening the institutional capacity of the Agency for Food and Veterinary, the Phytosanitary Directorate and the Phytosanitary Laboratory. It has been also planned to strengthen the capacities for monitoring the harmful organisms and plants, as well as preparation for accreditation of the inspection services in accordance with the EU standards.
Besimi, in his speech, has noted that the initiation of this project is a great success because it has been supported by one of the largest and most important institutions for adoption and implementation of the national legislation in the area of food and animal welfare.
"The process of European Integration is a long and expensive process, but also a process of learning" - said Besimi and added that the project has been obtained through maximum professional investing of the national capacities in the areas of programming and bidding processes and the same commitment and enthusiasm will continue to exist by the implementation of the project.
The Deputy Prime Minister Besimi, at the end of his speech, has wished to the attendees a successful implementation of the project and meeting the expected achievements.
