Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia in charge of European Affairs Fatmir Besimi, PhD met the Director General of the EC Directorate General for Enlargement, Christian Danielsson, who pays his regular visit to the Republic of Macedonia.
The meeting has been focused on the European Integration of the Republic of Macedonia as well as on the reforms implemented in order to meet the remaining priorities. As Besimi said, the European Integration remains a high priority of the new Government which is in progress of formation.
The Deputy Prime Minister Besimi, at the meeting, has pointed out that in the past period the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, despite all political challenges in the post-election period, has worked entirely committed on the fulfillment of the obligations arising from the High Level Accession Dialogue (HLAD) and has adopted the draft list of the selected objectives and priorities as a platform for continuation of the HLAD, regarding the judicial reform, the fight against corruption, freedom of expression and media, interethnic relations and good neighbourly relations.
At the meeting has been discussed about the elections held, and also the commitment has been expressed to adequately addressing the recommendations of the OSCE/ODIHR on the presidential and parliamentary elections, which will be organised in accordance to the Action Plan that is already in preparation.
Besimi has discussed about the strong commitment of the Government and the institutions regarding the programming the new IPA 2014-2020 and has noted that intensively has been working on the improvement of the absorption power of the state institutions in order the situations of spending funds to support the reforms to be avoided.
At the end Besimi has congratulated Danielsson on the democratically held elections in the EU and he has added that it is important the enlargement of the EU to be on the Agenda of the new European Parliament.
