Today, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia responsible for European Affairs, Dr. Fatmit Besimi, met the Ambassador of Germany in the Republic of Macedonia, Gudrun Steinacker.
During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister Besimi informed about the current activities related to the European integration process undertaken in the Republic of Macedonia, especially in the field of High Level Accession Dialogue. He specifically referred to the implementation of activities in the area of key priorities covered by the High Level Accession Dialogue between the Republic of Macedonia and the European Union.
The interlocutors discussed about the cooperation between the two countries, whereby the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, Dr. Besimi, emphasised that the cooperation and the bilateral assistance through the developing programs of Germany are extremely important for the Republic of Macedonia. In this context, the Deputy Prime Minister Besimi emphasised his commitment and willingness for further continuing the cooperation in order to support the Republic of Macedonia on the way towards the European Union, on the basis of the principles of partnership, openness and constructiveness.
The Ambassador Steinacker emphasised that Germany supports Macedonia"s membership in the Euro-Atlantic structures and expressed hope that the Accession Dialogue will contribute to further approximation of Macedonia to the European standards.
In the end, the interlocutors emphasised the importance for the Republic of Macedonia in this period to show progress towards the start of negotiations with the European Union and the promotion of reforms in order to achieve the strategic goals of the Republic of Macedonia.
