The Europe for Citizens Programme provides the Union with instruments for promotion of active European citizenship as well as promotion of the cooperation between citizens and their organisations from different countries. This intercultural exchange will contribute to improvement of the mutual knowledge about the culture and history of European peoples. General objectives of the Programme are the following:

• Providing the citizens a possibility to cooperate and participate in the creation of United Europe;
  
• Creating a European Identity, based on well-known mutual values, history and culture;
  
• Fostering mutual understanding between European citizens

Those objectives are envisaged to be implemented through the following Actions:

• Active citizens for Europe
  
• Active civil society for Europe
  
• Together for Europe

The Ministry of Education and Science is the national partner institution responsible for implementation and coordination of activities related to the Programme.
