In a significant step toward advancing North Macedonia’s European integration efforts, the UNOPS implemented “Support to European Integration of North Macedonia" project funded by Sweden, Switzerland and Ministry for European Affairs and “Knowledge for Reform Project", funded by Norway, have helped to advance the preparations for the accession negotiating positions as a next step on the European integration agenda. This initiative builds on the already established collaboration between UNOPS and the Ministry for European Affairs, during which key roadmaps were developed to enhance the country’s EU post-screening accession process.
On 6 and 7 February 2025, dedicated training sessions were held in Skopje to further this objective. The two-day workshops provided a platform for more than 50 representatives from pivotal institutions—including the Ministry for European Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Interior, Secretariat General of the Government, Statistical Office, State Audit Office, the Parliament, as well as other numerous institutions to engage in hands-on sessions designed to ensure robust coordination and ownership of the negotiation process.
This initiative exemplifies the ongoing commitment to continuous learning, collaboration, and capacity building—a triad of values essential for a successful EU accession journey. By equipping stakeholders with advanced tools and updated methodologies on accession negotiations issues, the project is laying a foundation for Macedonia’s future in the European Union.
