Today the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government in charge of European Affairs, Dr. Fatmir Besimi, met the Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo in the Republic of Macedonia, H.E. Ilber Hisa.
During the meeting they exchanged opinions and reviewed the measures and activities undertaken by the Government of the Republic of Macedonia in the EU integration process, especially regarding the activities under the High Level Accession Dialogue, as well as regarding the promotion of good neighbourly relations.
The Republic of Macedonia is dedicated to good cooperation and continuing the dialogue in a number of issues of mutual interest with the Republic of Kosovo, whereby several bilateral documents were signed, such as the Agreement for verification of periods for pension insurance, the Agreement for cross-border cooperation for 2011 and the Memorandum for Cooperation in the area of culture.
The Deputy Prime Minister Besimi welcomed the Agreement reached between Kosovo and Serbia by the European Union mediation, whereby he emphasised that this Agreement will contribute to the promotion of Euro-Atlantic perspective of all countries in the region. Also, Besimi expressed his hope that this approach can be used as a positive example for other countries in the region in solving the open bilateral issues.
The interlocutors expressed the importance of the progress in the EU integration process for the two countries whereby in order to further promote that process, they expressed readiness to deepen the bilateral cooperation and to intensify it through exchange of experiences in the area of European integration. The Deputy Prime Minister Besimi expressed his readiness to transfer and exchange the experience of the institutions of the Republic of Macedonia in this process with the institutions of Kosovo.
