Deputy Prime Minister of the Government Republic of Macedonia, Fatmir Besimi PhD had a meeting with a high delegation from the European Affairs Committee of the Dutch Parliament, led by the President of the Commission, Mr. Malik Azmani. The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands, Mr. Willem Wouter Plomp accompanied the Delegation.
Deputy Prime Minister Besimi congratulated the Dutch takeover of the EU presidency and expressed hope that the cooperation between the Netherlands and Macedonia will continue, and that the Netherlands will continue to support European-Atlantic aspirations of the country.
At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Besimi referred to the activities carried out within the urgent reform priorities in the areas of justice, interception of communications, the fight against corruption and organised crime, public administration reform and electoral reforms, media and implementation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement. He stressed that the Urgent reform priorities remain further in focus and we will work dedicated on their realisation.
Regarding the dealing with the migrant crisis, Besimi highlighted that the migrants in Macedonia are treated in a completely humanely, respecting all international legal obligations, in full coordination with the EU policies.
The bilateral cooperation between the Netherlands and Macedonia is realised in other projects, through donor assistance, training of MATRA, CDAD projects the programme ORIO, as well as twinning with partners from the Netherlands.
