Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs at the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, Fatmir Besimi PhD, together with the Ambassador and Head of the EU Delegation in the Republic of Macedonia, Aivo Orav, in anticipation of the upcoming meetings of the EU Council and the European Council, which will be held next week in Brussels, had a working meeting with the ambassadors of the EU member states.
The Vice president Besimi had brief update at the meeting regarding the EC Progress Report for the country and informed on the undertaken measures and Government"s planned activities in favour of the Report recommendations, including the progress in implementation of the urgent reform priorities. Also, the Vice president stressed that most of the politically agreed much of the political contractual obligations have been implemented or are under implementation. Although there are some real outstanding issues which are still being discussed, the political will is crucial for the finalisation of commitments and entering a stage of concrete preparations for the organisation of the parliamentary elections scheduled for next April.
The Ambassador Orav and the ambassadors of the EU member states showed interest in the complete implementation of the Political agreement from June/July, as well as visible results and advanced implementation of the Urgent reform priorities. Special interest raised the establishment of the State Election Commission, its initiation of work and the timely organisation of the elections, including the preparation of the voters list.
As a result of the open and friendly discussion during the meeting, regular and thematic briefings were agreed for the following period on the progress of realisation of the Urgent reform priorities, in order to inform the member states and EU institutions of our progress.
