Brussels, 16 February 2016 (MIA) - Macedonia's Vice-Premier for European Affairs Fatmir Besimi held talks Tuesday in Brussels with Johannes Hahn, the Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations.

The talks focused on the organization of snap general elections in Macedonia, realization of reform priorities, recommended by the European Commission, implementing of the Framework Agreement and developments related to the refugee crisis, Besimi told MIA after the meeting.

The European Commission wishes for the early parliamentary elections in Macedonia to be organized in line with the international standards, Besimi said. According to Hahn, the EC will wait for OSCE/ODIHR and the State Election Commission (SEC) reports on Macedonia's readiness to organize such elections, he added.
The talks once again highlighted the need for Macedonia to focus on the urgent reform priorities, as notified in last EC report on the country's progress, which also preconditions a launch of the EU accession talks with conducting democratic elections in line with the international standards, Besimi said.

All of this will set the basis of future EC report on Macedonia and determine its European perspective, Besimi said.
Hahn, he said, commended Macedonia's activities related to the refugee crisis.

We have also discussed the EU support of Macedonia in this respect, such as yesterday's European Commission's decision on earmarking additional aid of EUR 10 million to help the country to improve its border and migration management systems in the context of the refugee crisis, Besimi said. lk/19:03
