The Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia in charge of the European Affairs D-r Fatmir Besimi, visited Brussels, where he addressed on the briefing in the Euroepan Policy Centre, on the topic: "European future of Macedonia - Perspectives and Challenges".
In his addressing, Besimi pointed out that despite open questions with the neighboring countries, members of the European Union, we strongly keep on the focus of our obligations that we should accomplish and we bravely face with all the challenges of the reform process.
He informed about the work of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia done until now, when he mentioned the realized reforms, which are part of the High-Level Accession Dialogue (HLAD), such as the reforms in the area of freedom of expression, changes in the Electoral Code achieved by consensus among political parties and reforms in the rule of law and fundamental rights , reforms on public administration and market economy, and special accent was put on the implementation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement as a key priority of the Government in order to strengthen the multi-ethnic character of the country.
Besimi stressed the good neighborhood countries as very important ones, and he underlined our readiness to overcome the open questions with the neighbors, in a constructive way. At the same time, he evaluated the visit of the Minister of foreign affairs of the Republic of Greece, Venizelos in the Republic of Macedonia, in the role as a Chairman of the European Union.
Besimi, also noted the importance of accelerating the European integration as an important precondition for the stability and development of the region and as a common topic and goal which set the countries of the region on the same side in creating better common future of the Western Balkan countries in the European Union.

During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister Besimi, also met the Director at the Directorate – General for Enlargement of the European Commission Ms. Alexandra Cas Granje and the Rapporteur for the Republic of Macedonia to the European Parliament, Mr. Richard Howitt, as well.
Besimi, emphasized once again, the devotion of the Republic of Macedonia in its European integration process, and the progress in the reforms, which are included in the recommendation of the HLAD.
