The Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia in charge of European affairs had a meeting with professor Borche Davitkovski, president of the Commission for the Committee of Inquiry into the events of 24 December.
During the meeting they discussed the activities of the Commission, and professor Davitkovski informed and handed over to Besimi the conclusions and the recommendations of the report which was adopted by the Commission, and which propose concrete measures and activities to be implemented by domestic institutions. The recommendations, inter alia, are as well on the need of approximation of the provisions between the Law on the Assembly of RM and the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly, providing provisions in the Rules of Procedure that would regulate the work of the coordination of the parliamentary groups, revision of the provisions the Rules of Procedure relating to procedures for budget preparation and adoption of an ethical code, strengthening the role and inquiry commissions and enabling conditions for the smooth operation of the reporters who follow the work of the Assembly.
Both sides agreed that the adoption of the report by consensus is a positive step and proof of the willingness of both parties to support its implementation.
The Deputy Prime Minister Besimi believes that the adoption of the Report will be properly noted in the autumn report of the European Commission for the Republic of Macedonia, and that will contribute to further progress in the European integration process.
He welcomed the agreement, and stated that the implementation of the jointly agreed recommendations will be an important priority in the following period. Additionally, Besimi stressed that all institutions should optimise their focus on the implementation of the reform processes for timely and effective implementation of the obligations arising from the High Level Accession Dialogue.
Regarding the country’s European perspective, the Deputy Prime Minister Besimi stressed that it is important to continue the progress on the relations with the neighbour countries and the countries from the region, so that the focus should be on addressing the open bilateral issues.
